@Matthew: I actually haven't spent much time with WordPress since 2.5 came out. I think I overdid it before that, so I'm recovering :-) That's cool to know though, I'll have to go check out Trac at least or the development updates blog and see what's been going on! And you're welcome for the Subversion tip...there's a Codex article about setting up Subversion but it's not very popular, probably because it involves the linux command line and they don't want to scare people. When, in reality, if you know anything about anything Linux, it's actually makes things quite a bit easier! Wonder when I should upgrade this blog to bleeding edge again... :-)

Yo David! Have you checked out Wordpress 2.6-bleeding2? It's SWEET, lots of new features. I was messing around with subversion (THANK YOU!), and I ended up with 2.6-bleeding2 installed. I like it a lot!

@Jack: I'll take a plugin (structured, manageable custom code) over raw custom code (unstructured, unversioned custom code) any day. But whatever works :-)

The plugin list is a good idea, I've meant to put a list together for both my blog here and for the Lakeview site. Just haven't had the time yet. Thanks for the reminder!

We do categorize our sermon series into a specific sub-category per series. However, the In Series plugin (there's a competing one out there now too I think) does a great job of telling people about the other sermons in the series when they are looking at one. They can see which one they're viewing and get direct links to all the others. The plugin and categories complement each other, in my opinion.

RE: the Folding Page list plugin, I did that with some custom code on FCC's site as opposed to the plugin.

Different posts per a page plugin seems interesting.

David, you need to follow up this post with a list of plugins. Also, I'd be curious to know why go with In Series as opposed to categorizing sermons (creating categories for the sermon series as opposed to the plugin).

John,

Thanks, it was fun for me as well. I did listen to the podcast episode this morning, and although I've never really liked the sound of my own recorded voice (just used to hearing it in my head I guess!), I was happy to find that I tended to speak mostly in cohesive sentences! That's a success in my book :-) And you did a great job stitching together the pieces. You were able to take out the part where I sounded most like an idiot (shhh, don't tell anyone :-)

There is already a Church IT Roundtable Podcast of sorts already over at ChurchITPodcast.com that's recorded ever two weeks and is open to anyone via TalkShoe. Feel free to stop in sometime if you get the chance! Unfortunately my work schedule on Thursdays when it's recorded means that I don't get to listen live or participate quite as often as I would otherwise like to, but I've been on a decent chunk of them.

David,

Thanks for doing the interview. It was fun. I hope we can do something like this again. Perhaps a round table with some other church IT folks through TalkShoe.
